First Aid Training at NUST

The Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences presents:
First Aid Training at NUST for staff and students

The First Aid (Class A) course is a 3-day course that provides participants with basic skills to identify and mange common injuries and illness. The course is beneficial for students, academic and administrative staff.

The course covers the following topics:

  • Principles of First Aid
  • The responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Major first aid techniques such as CPR and bleeding management
  • Bites, stings, poisons and environmental conditions
  • Trauma, fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries
  • Common medical emergencies

Course fees includes the prescribed book and other course material, a light lunch on all three days and the certificate:

  • NUST Students – N$850
  • NUST Academic and Administrative Staff – N$950
  • Private individuals (Non-NUST staff/students) – N$950

Additional incentives exist for students and staff:
Students - the course fees can be paid at the cashier using the reference (0704-9563) and your surname (please bring the completed application from and proof of payment) OR the fees can be added to your current tuition fees by the Faculty upon registration of the course. Programmes can arrange from group sessions for students.
Staff - have options such as staff development or encashment of leave days to arrange for payment. Please contact your HR officer to make the arrangement. Use the budget and vote 0704-9536 and your surname as reference when arranging for payment.

Proposed dates are:
7 - 9 November 2018
14 -16 November 2018
27- 29 November 2018

Courses will only be held if there are more than 10 participants for every course. A 50% cancellation fee will be charged, and no cancellations/refunds will be processed on the first day of the course. The course will be held on campus at the New Health and Applied Sciences Building. Groups (>10 persons per group) from Faculties/Departments can make special arrangements for dates.
The certification is valid for 3 years from the date of issue after which the participants need to do the course again to ensure certification.
