International Partnership Week in Germany
Two NUST staff members, Kuda Brandt and Cheryl Kahatjipara, recently travelled to Germany to represent the university at the International Partnership Week, hosted by Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) Ravensburg. Funded by the Erasmus+ programme and facilitated by NUST’s International Relations office, the event brought together university professionals from around the world to foster collaboration and share best practices in higher education.
During the week-long engagement, the NUST representatives participated in numerous sessions and interactive discussions covering a wide range of topics relevant to global higher education. “Something that particularly piqued my interest was Germany’s free education system,” said Brandt from the Corporate Engagement and Internationalisation Department. “I believe public lectures and panel discussions could serve as effective platforms to engage key stakeholders and raise awareness about the growing movement toward tuition-free tertiary education.”
Kahatjipara, the Office of the NUST Vice-Chancellor, added, "I greatly appreciate this opportunity. I was impressed by their innovative integration of industry partners throughout a student's journey. Moreover, their commitment to Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) and providing students with a modest salary showcases a thoughtful model that effectively bridges education and real-world experience."
The participants were also given a tour of DHBW Ravensburg’s in-house production studio, which offers TV and radio services to the public, a valuable resource for community engagement that strengthens the university’s brand. The tour highlighted the vital role of digital storytelling and media in enhancing institutional visibility and international branding.
Over 15 delegates from Morocco, Portugal, Malta, France, and Namibia, amongst others, took part in the partnership week.
