Social Security Commission Awards Best Comms Student
Délcia Muafeca, one of NUST’s 2023 best-performing first-year students in the Bachelor of Communication programme, was awarded a laptop and printer, courtesy of the Social Security Commission (SSC).
The prize was officially handed over by the SSC ‘s Senior Manager: Communications and Marketing, Unomengi Kauapirura and the Head of Marketing and Branding, Castro Tjizoo. The award was given in recognition of academic excellence and underscores the importance of providing students with the tools they need to thrive.
Reflecting on her years as a lecturer, Kauapirura acknowledged the challenges of the academic journey, particularly when students lack access to essential tools and technology. "Addressing this need is not just about bridging the gap—it is about empowering students to succeed, and we are proud to have played a role in supporting you," she said.
The award aligns with the Commission’s goals of addressing socio-economic disparities through education. Its broader aim is to close the skills gap and promote employability, especially among youth, women, and retrenched workers. Humbled by the recognition, Muafeca expressed her heartfelt gratitude: “This prize will play a vital role in furthering my academic journey. Hard work and dedication always pay off, and with God by our side, we can achieve great things.”
NUST’s Acting Director of Corporate Engagement and Internationalisation, Nashilongo Gervasius, expressed gratitude for the gesture on behalf of the University.
