Public Enterprise CEOs Renew Focus on Sound Governance
NUST Vice-Chancellor, Prof Erold Naomab, attended the 10th Annual General Meeting of the Public Enterprises CEOs’ Forum, recently in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. The high-level gathering brought together public sector leaders and key stakeholders from across the country.
Themed “Public Enterprises: Energising Growth - Compete, Partner, Excel,” the Forum served as a strategic platform to explore ways of strengthening corporate governance, enhancing operational efficiency, and fostering innovation within Namibia’s public enterprises. Discussions centred on aligning institutional mandates with the national development agenda, with a particular emphasis on Vision 2030, the Harambee Prosperity Plan II, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key sectors such as energy, transport, agriculture, and ICT were spotlighted, with delegates examining opportunities for public-private partnerships and sustainable investment. The event was hosted in collaboration with the Namibia Airports Company and the Namibia Civil Aviation Authority, underscoring the importance of infrastructure development and regulatory reform in catalysing economic growth.
Higher education plays a pivotal role in driving innovation within public enterprises, further underscoring the value of strategic partnerships between academia, industry, and government in fostering a knowledge-based economy.
The Forum concluded with a renewed commitment among stakeholders to promote accountability, transparency, and performance excellence in Namibia’s public enterprises.
