NUST staff scoops Best Communicator Award
At the just-ended Public Entities Communications Officers (PECO) Awards that were held in Lüderitz, Ms Kuda Brandt, a NUST staff member was recognised as the Best Communications Officer. The PECO Awards are an initiative of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.
Brandt, who is now the Manager of Corporate Communications and Marketing at the University, was awarded for her work in her former role as a Science Communication Specialist, at the Institution’s Directorate of Research, Innovation and Partnerships (DRIP).
“I dedicate this one to DRIP as I was privileged to be the lead in so many innovative projects during my time at the Directorate. From co-hosting research podcasts, giving presentations locally and internationally, and promoting the work of researchers through a multitude of mediums, there was never a dull moment,” Brandt said. “Overall, I am truly grateful to the Ministry for providing this opportunity, and to NUST for giving me a platform to think disruptively,” she added, with immense gratitude.
“This is a well-deserved recognition which is a testament to the outstanding impact Ms Brandt made as our Science and Innovation Communications Specialist. With unmatched professionalism, a dynamic pace, and a creative, positive spirit, she amplified our scientific initiatives, making them resonate with donors, policymakers, and grassroots communities alike. Her work ensured that our work not only gain visibility but also deliver measurable, lasting impact,” remarked Dr Anna Matros-Goreses, the DRIP Executive Director.
Brandt, who has been at NUST for nearly a decade, holds a Master’s degree in Media Studies (science journalism), from the University of Namibia, and an Honours Degree in Communication from NUST. She was former television journalist before entering the communications field.
