NUST Soars into 2024: A Journey of Innovation and Excellence

In a jubilant celebration of academic prowess and community spirit, NUST heralds a year of boundless potential and unparalleled achievement.

Amidst a backdrop of anticipation and enthusiasm, the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) welcomed students, faculty members, and staff to its official opening ceremony for 2024. With a fusion of inspiration, talent, and community spirit, the event took place on Friday, 9 February 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter in NUST's journey towards academic excellence and societal impact.

The event’s keynote speaker was Mr Moses Matyayi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the City of Windhoek and a revered NUST alumnus. Matyayi shared his journey with the eager audience. His words, infused with passion and purpose, resonated deeply as he imparted the timeless wisdom, "Craft your visions, for education is the ultimate equaliser." It was a moment of inspiration that reverberated through the hearts and minds of all present, reminding them of the transformative power of education in shaping destinies and breaking barriers.

The ceremony was elevated by captivating performances courtesy of Chester Houseprince and Waters, infusing a rhythmic and melodic dimension into the proceedings. Furthermore, the event included active participation of various societies and clubs affiliated with NUST. Their vibrant contributions, ranging from theatrical showcases to interactive displays, reinforced a sense of unity and camaraderie among students, faculty, and staff.

As the curtain drew to a close on the 2024 Official Opening Ceremony, a tangible sense of optimism and determination lingered in the air. NUST, with its unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation, stands poised to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Guided by the wisdom of its alumni and fuelled by the talent and creativity of its students, NUST is set to continue its legacy of academic distinction and societal impact.

NUST Vice-Chancellor, Dr Erold Naomab emphasised the essence of preparation and opportunity in his address to the audience, "Opportunity loves preparation. Whether you find yourself in a classroom, laboratory, or any other aspect of life, always ask yourself: Am I prepared?" These words will guide the NUST community, emphasising the importance of readiness and commitment in seizing opportunities.
