In 2025, NUST became the only Namibian university ranked in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, reflecting contributions to multiple SDGs. Our commitment is to leverage institutional research data to identify strengths and growth opportunities while enhancing research and teaching impact, refining brand messaging, and strengthening global reputation.
Our academic footprint includes 2,500+ publications and nearly 23,000 citations, with performance in the top 50% globally across 12 research topics. NUST also ranks within the global top 1000 in Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, and Management Information Systems affirming a credible, innovative partner for impact-driven teaching, research and innovation in Namibia and beyond.

Leveraging innovation and education to uplift communities
NUST hosts hackathons and projects tackling socio-economic challenges like digital inclusion, food security and service delivery. The University also fosters entrepreneurship and job creation through its innovation hub and incubator programmes.
Moreover, NUST collaborates on community development efforts (e.g. informal settlement upgrading) to address poverty and improve livelihoods.
