Hybrid Future Leaders Summit 2023

NOTICE

Cancellation of the Future Leaders Summit

After careful consideration, the committee decided to cancel the Future Leaders Summit due to circumstances beyond our control until further notice.

Hybrid Future Leaders Summit 2023

The NUST Future Leaders Summit has been postponed to 29-30 June 2023. It will include both in-person and virtual experiences. This Summit is a collaborative research effort by faculty, students and staff of the Namibia University of Science and technology, the University of Namibia (UNAM), the International University of Management (IUM), Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and Elon University (USA) on Pandemics and Epidemics in Africa.

Background and Main Goals of Future Leaders Summit

The late President, Nelson Mandela, once said: “Young people face so many difficult questions to make in life today. It is important to talk openly about subjects like HIV/AIDS so that young people can make informed decisions about these issues and to understand that they have the most vital role to play in helping to shape the future”. With that said, we invite submissions on research done in 2019-2021 which underscore the theme for the Future Leaders Summit 2023: “Lessons Learned from Pandemics and Epidemics”. These themes and your partnership will emphasise engagement, partnership and collaboration as we learn with, from, and about each other’s work to focus on what matters most.

Mode of Presentation

As you review the presentation formats and the themes for the Future Leaders Summit 2023, examine the best fit to share your work. You will be asked to select a topic as part of the submission process and forward an abstract of research you conducted. Furthermore, it should include keywords to help aid attendees in selecting sessions most meaningful to them. Final thematic placement will be determined by the organising committee. Submissions that show clear design for impact on the youth will be given priority. In order to provide greater flexibility and accessibility for presenters and attendees, presentations will be offered in hybrid format (both inperson and virtual experiences). Presenters may offer their presentations in the following formats: PowerPoint Presentations; Flash or Interactive/Multimedia Presentations, Videos/AV/Films; Whiteboard Presentations or Hybrid Presentations. Please specify in your submission which format you wish to use for your presentation, so that it can be planned properly.

Kindly note hat this call for abstracts is an extension of the previous one. Those who submitted their abstracts already do not have to re-submit it again. Only those still interested are encouraged to submit their abstracts to amcnally@nust.na. before or on Friday, 19 May 2023.
