Dimbulukeni is Standing on Business!
As he prepares to graduate with a Business Management degree, 33-year-old Dimbulukeni Nauyoma reflects on a path shaped by community, resilience, and bold reinvention – one that saw him recognised as the best Honours student in his cohort at the Academic Awards Ceremony held on campus recently.
To those closest to him, he is simply Dimbu: A son, a brother, a father, a partner, and a friend. His roots run deep in the vibrant communities of Odibo and Okuryangava, which have profoundly shaped his perspective on life. “Growing up there instilled in me a deep sense of solidarity and a drive to stand for justice and equality. My upbringing reminds me that while one person can spark change, it takes a united community to sustain it,” he said.
Redefining Business
For Dimbulukeni, the decision to pursue business studies stemmed from a belief in its potential as a force for good. “Namibia needs leaders who can bridge the gap between social development and economic empowerment,” he noted. Business, in his view, must extend beyond profit margins and consider the human and environmental dimensions of success. “It is about creating leaders who do not just ask how much they have made, but also how much of a difference they have made,” he explained.
His time at NUST has helped sharpen this vision. “NUST’s emphasis on experiential learning stood out to me. Through real-world problem-solving, case studies and groundwork, I gained hands-on experience that expanded my perspectives. This practical approach ensures students do not just gain knowledge, but develop the skills to tackle challenges in any sector effectively.”
On how he plans to put those skills into practice, he said: “Through strategic management and enterprise development, I aim to champion ventures that balance profit with purpose, such as supporting small-scale farmers through aggrotech solutions, renewable energy, education and training, and fostering financial inclusion through fintech platforms. There are also opportunities to advocate for initiatives like business incubators to empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and aspiring entrepreneurs, ensuring sustainable growth across communities”.
What Comes Next?
Graduation is not an endpoint, but rather just the beginning: He has already enrolled for a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Finance at NUST. “The University has equipped me with a mindset of curiosity and ambition. Wherever the future takes me, I will carry the lessons I have learnt here — that with the right tools, every challenge is an opportunity for growth.”
To Dimbulukeni, being a NUST graduate – specifically during the University’s 10-year anniversary celebrations – means being empowered to drive meaningful change, both in Namibia and on the global stage. “It is a legacy of bold thinking, transformative education, and a future-oriented mindset that I am privileged to carry forward,” he concluded.
The Business Management Honours is a specialisation degree, designed to equip students with deepened and systematic knowledge and expertise in business management. It is offered under the Faculty of Commerce, Human Sciences and Education.
