Eenhana Student Embraces International Exchange Opportunity
Johannes Elifas, a third-year Bachelor of Business Management student at the NUST Eenhana Campus, recently completed a semester abroad at Kempten University of Applied Sciences in Germany. His journey was made possible through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship, under the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education Exchange (SEEE) Project.
Johannes is part of a growing group of trailblazers from the Eenhana Campus who have seized international exchange opportunities. “This is the fourth student from our campus to go on an international exchange,” said Dr Lukas Shikulo, Head of the NUST Eenhana Campus. “It is a win every time one of our own experiences a new academic environment and returns with stories, knowledge, and a global outlook that benefits everyone.”
Dr Shikulo noted that Johannes was one of two students selected for the opportunity in Germany—the other being Freddy Samuel, who went to Justus Liebig University. Previous exchange students have studied in Poland and Switzerland.
For Johannes, the experience has been profoundly transformative. “My time at Kempten University has shaped me in so many ways. The welcoming community, the supportive International Office, inspiring professors, and diverse peers made me feel at home in the heart of Allgäu,” he shared.
According to International Relations Officer Nicolaas Smit, in the Corporate Engagement and Internationalisation Department, academic exchanges provide students not only with access to a different curriculum but also with invaluable personal development. “Johannes is engaging with new content, culture, and campus life that broaden his academic and social horizons. When he returns, he becomes a powerful voice of inspiration among his peers, while also showcasing the excellence of NUST students on the global stage,” he said.
From Eenhana to Kempten, over 11 000 kilometres apart—Johannes Elifas is proving that the future truly belongs to those bold enough to explore it.
