What do you want to be when you grow up?
NUST Career Fair Sparks Real-World Connections
This is a question that constantly comes up – what do you want to be when you grow up? Hundreds of learners descended upon the NUST Windhoek earlier this week for the Annual Career Fair to get answers to this pertinent question. There were over 6 000 learners from more than 13 schools across the Omaheke, Hardap, Erongo, and Khomas regions.

Learners were treated to an immersive experience of university life, engaging directly with faculty representatives, current students, and industry professionals. They explored a wide array of interactive exhibitions, participated in on-the-spot career guidance sessions, and gained valuable insight into study options and the skills needed in today’s job market.

Ms Miriam Dikuua, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Finance and Operations delivered keynote remarks on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Erold Naomab: “This Career Fair offers you an opportunity to experience a university environment first-hand,” she said, adding that the event’s success lies in “our collective commitment, support, and teamwork.”
Delivering remarks on behalf of Mr Fessor Mbango, Chief Executive Officer of Central North Regional Electricity Distributor (CENORED), Mr Muhindua Kaura, Human Capital and Cooperate Service Executive, encouraged learners to see themselves not just as future employees, but as “catalysts for change” in a transforming Namibia. “This is your opportunity to exhibit your abilities, inquire, and convey your passion,” he encouraged. CENORED was the main sponsor of this year’s Fair.
The Career Fair featured over 30 exhibitions and drew participation from ministries, corporations, and NUST faculties, all vying for top honours in three categories.
