NUST and Afrox Open New Pathways for Student Careers
The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Afrox have formalised a partnership aimed at expanding opportunities for students to gain practical industry experience, develop workplace-ready skills and connect with potential career opportunities.
The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 24 August 2026, following discussions initiated in October 2025, seeking to strengthen links between academic learning and industry needs.
The collaboration will support internships, experiential and vacation work, mentorship, career development, joint research and innovation, curriculum support, guest lectures and lecturer development, among other proposed initiatives.
For NUST students, the partnership will provide greater exposure to industry and opportunities to develop skills aligned with the demands of the labour market. For Afrox, it creates opportunities to engage emerging talent and contribute to the development of future-ready graduates.
The MoU was signed by NUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Frednard Gideon and Afrox Country Manager Mr Prince Tsuro.
Speaking at the signing, Prof Gideon emphasised the importance of stronger university-industry partnerships in advancing Namibia’s socio-economic development.
“We are planting a seed that will make the impossible, possible.”
Mr Tsuro welcomed the partnership, noting Afrox’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for NUST students and graduates.
The collaboration marks another step towards strengthening the connection between higher education, industry and national development, while creating pathways for students to move from the classroom into meaningful careers.
