Namibian Team Shines at Deep Learning Indaba 2024 in Senegal
The Deep Learning Indaba 2024, held in Dakar, Senegal, brought together some of the brightest minds in Artificial Intelligence (AI) across Africa. Among the many participants, the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) team stood out for their remarkable contributions, taking home several accolades and showcasing Namibia's growing influence in the AI space.
NUST, represented by a team of talented individuals from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics, made a significant impact at the prestigious event. Jovita Mateus, Mamoqenelo Morolong, Ndinelago Nashandi, and Professor Attlee M. Gamundani were key participants, each contributing in various capacities that highlighted their individual expertise and Namibia's potential in the AI industry.
Jovita Mateus, one of the team's standout members, secured two awards: a NVIDIA Self-paced Training Course and a Senegalese Art award, reflecting her commitment to advancing her AI knowledge. Mamoqenelo Morolong impressed judges with her poster presentation, winning a cash prize. Ndinelago Nashandi represented IndabaX Namibia, demonstrating Namibia's dedication to AI, while Professor Gamundani took on multiple roles as a panelist and community showcase presenter for the HASH Project.
