Description

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Supply Chain Management is a postgraduate degree aimed at fostering cutting-edge research skills amenable to solving complex supply chain problems facing the industry. The programme aims to develop skilled and competent individuals with the ability to think critically and address complex challenges related to supply chain activities, including transport, logistics, warehousing, procurement, and distribution. In addition, students will be equipped to generate data and utilise technology to solve complex problems.

Overall, the programme aims to:

  1. Develop competent individuals with the ability to conduct independent research in the areas of supply chain management.
  2. Develop students’ abilities in critical thinking, analysis, and argumentation to enrich intellectual potential within Supply Chain Management disciplines.
  3. Enable students to contribute through original research that extends the frontier of knowledge in Supply Chain Management.

Admission Requirements

A Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), or an equivalent qualification in a related discipline from a recognised institution at NQF Level 9, with evidence of supervised research undertaken at Master’s level. Candidates will be required to submit a concept paper outlining their proposed research areas and may be required to attend a pre-selection interview, at the discretion of the Faculty Research Committee, to assess their competencies for independent research in a specialised area of Supply Chain Management and its applications.
