Art for a Sustainable Future: NUST and EU Unveil Green Energy Mural

In a notable ceremony, the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), in collaboration with the European Union (EU), unveiled a striking new mural at its Windhoek Campus. This vibrant artwork is not just visually captivating, it symbolises the shared mission of NUST and the EU to champion sustainability, green industrialisation, and Namibia’s energy transition.

NUST Acting Vice-Chancellor, Miriam Dikuua, expressed how the mural "brought life to the face of NUST’s Main Campus". She added, “As Namibia continues to pursue its energy transition goals, this mural serves as a creative expression of the hopes and ambitions that drive these efforts”.

EU Ambassador to Namibia, H.E. Ana-Beatriz Martins, explained that the mural is "more than just a piece of art," and a powerful symbol of the collective commitment between Namibia and the EU. She remarked, “Even if only fleetingly, as you pass this mural, we hope it will inspire you to believe that together we can achieve the goals Namibia has set for itself”.

A Symbol of Hope: "Shared Values for Green Transition"

This mural, created by local artists, illustrates three key pillars essential to Namibia’s green future: skills development, employment creation, and a shared vision for a sustainable tomorrow. It serves as a reminder of the vital role that innovation and creativity play in shaping Namibia's future.

A Partnership for Progress

This unveiling also celebrates over 22 years of collaboration between NUST and the EU, a partnership that has led to significant advancements in research, infrastructure, and programmes focused on building a greener, more sustainable future for Namibia.

NUST and the EU remain united in their mission to drive Namibia’s green energy transition forward!
