NUST Launches Postgraduate Research Hub at Institutional Induction
In a major step towards strengthening the postgraduate experience, the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) officially unveiled its new Postgraduate Research Hub during the Institutional Postgraduate Induction held on 28 March 2025 at the Mining Auditorium.
The event, hosted by the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Partnerships (DRIP), brought together newly enrolled postgraduate students, academic staff, and support services to introduce key structures and resources available at the University.
In his keynote address, Professor Colin Stanley, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Partnerships, underscored the University’s commitment to research excellence. “We are dedicated to cultivating an environment that supports advanced scholarship and innovation in response to both national priorities and global challenges,” he remarked.
The newly launched Postgraduate Research Hub, accessible via the NUST website - serves as a centralised digital platform offering information on research events, funding calls, writing retreats, and supervisory guidance. A live demonstration of the platform formed a key highlight of the evening, signalling improved access to postgraduate support services.
Professor Omotayo Awofolu, Acting Director of Research and Postgraduate Development, outlined the directorate’s services, stating, “This platform is more than a website, it is a gateway for nurturing academic excellence and translating knowledge into impact.”

Further presentations were delivered by heads of support units, covering topics such as student welfare, innovation and entrepreneurship, library and research resources. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Silas Newaka, Acting Executive Director: DRIP.
Looking ahead, the Hub will provide monthly updates featuring opportunities, activities, and postgraduate success stories, thereby cultivating a vibrant and research-driven postgraduate culture at NUST.
