Description

The newly accredited Bachelor of Actuarial Science (Honours) programme is designed for highly motivated students with strong analytical abilities who wish to build a solid foundation in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, and Risk Management.

The programme equips students with rigorous quantitative, mathematical, and statistical skills required to analyse and manage financial risk in insurance, pensions, banking, investments, and other related sectors. Students will develop strong problem-solving, modelling, and data analysis capabilities, alongside a sound understanding of economic and financial systems.

Students will be trained to apply actuarial principles to real-world problems, communicate complex quantitative results effectively, and uphold professional and ethical standards expected in actuarial practice.

Graduates will be well prepared for careers as Actuarial Analysts, Risk Analysts, Data Analysts, Insurance Analysts, Pension Analysts, and related roles in both the public and private sectors. The programme also provides a strong academic foundation for students intending to pursue professional actuarial qualifications and postgraduate studies.

Admission Requirements

Applicants may be considered for admission provided they meet the NUST general admission requirements. In addition, candidates must:

  • Have obtained a minimum of 18 points from their best three subjects, which must include Mathematics and English.
  • Have achieved at least an A* symbol in Mathematics at Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) Ordinary Level, or a D symbol in Mathematics at Advanced Subsidiary Level, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Attend a pre-selection interview, if required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with strong overall academic performance.
