Description
The Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence Honours is a postgraduate specialisation degree that aims at consolidating and deepening the knowledge and skills of students in Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as developing their capacity to conduct supervised research of an applied nature in disciplines related to robotics, bio-informatics, health, drug discovery, logistics, climate change, cyber security, and agriculture. The programme is purposefully designed to expose students to advanced concepts, theories, tools, and methods of AI and their applications. In this context, specific emphasis is placed on internationally accepted general standards and practices, as well as key attributes that would enable graduates to assume supervisory/middle management, and applied research positions in the AI-based industry, academia, and in the public sector. The curriculum is structured to facilitate specialisation to produce a workforce of AI engineers capable of implementing concepts into complex applications.
Admission Requirements
Applicants may be considered for admission to this programme if they have a Bachelor’s degree in AI, NQF Level 7, from a recognised institution.
Applicants who do not meet this requirement but have a related Bachelor degree at NQF Level 7, or applicants with a Bachelor degree at NQF Level 7 from other fields from a recognised institution with professional experience in AI or Data Science, may be considered for admission if they successfully pass an entry examination. Additional courses may be recommend based on the candidates’ backgrounds at the department’s discretion.

The transcripts from undergraduate studies, and a professional resume highlighting practical and professional experience in the field of AI or Data Science.
