HR Day Shapes the Future of Work for Students
International HR Day is globally commemorated on 20 May each year to recognise the strategic contribution of human resource professionals. In recognition of this important date, the organisers structured the celebration into two components, a Student Day and a Staff Day, allowing for targeted engagement across different audiences within the university community. This year’s Student Day built on the success of its inaugural celebration in 2025, reflecting a strengthening tradition within the institution.
The programme brought together students, academics and industry partners for a day of learning and networking focused on employability and the future of work. Highlights included a keynote presentation by Johanna Nghililewanga of First National Bank of Namibia on personal branding and digital footprint management, as well as a panel discussion featuring representatives from the Namibia Statistics Agency, Deloitte Namibia, the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia and the Namibia Qualifications Authority.
Students also benefited from practical sessions targeted on CV writing, entrepreneurship, freelancing and youth development, while exhibitors provided information on internships and career opportunities. Interactive games and networking opportunities added to the vibrant atmosphere.
The event underscored NUST’s commitment to bridging academic learning with industry engagement and equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world of work.
