NUST and Oryx Properties Forge Strategic Partnership
A shared vision for developing Namibia's future workforce has brought NUST and Oryx Properties Limited together in a strategic partnership. Through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), the two institutions formalised their collaboration to offer Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities that bridge classroom learning with practical industry experience.
Beyond providing structured workplace learning opportunities through the partnership, it also aims to enhance students' employability by enabling them to apply their academic knowledge in real-world professional environments. “By combining academic excellence with practical learning opportunities, the collaboration will empower students with the skills, experience and mentorship needed to contribute to Namibia's economic and social development, while strengthening the country's future human capital,” Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching, Learning and Technology, Prof Teresia Kaulihowa remarked.
Speaking on behalf of Oryx Properties Limited, Chief Executive Officer Ben Jooste reaffirmed the company's commitment to investing in education and youth development. "We believe that investing in education and young talent is an investment in Namibia's future. Through this partnership, we are proud to contribute to developing the next generation of professionals by providing valuable workplace exposure and learning opportunities,” he affirmed.
The MoA outlines the roles and responsibilities of both parties in facilitating student placements, supervising interns, and supporting practical learning and educational development. In addition, the agreement promotes collaboration in research, participation in career fairs, and engagement between Oryx Properties and NUST through advisory boards and other strategic initiatives.
