Building Financial Leaders for Namibia’s Future

Financial literacy is more than understanding money. It is about learning how markets work, how risk is managed, how investment decisions are made, and how financial data can support better choices for individuals, businesses and public leadership.

Hon Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma Jr., Governor of the Khomas Region, has embarked on the Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals course, gaining exposure to key concepts in finance, economics, investment, risk and responsible decision making. This learning journey connects to the broader purpose of the Bloomberg Finance Lab, housed at NUST. The Lab expands access to practical financial education, real-time market data and global financial tools through partnerships with MTC Namibia and NIFA Academy, with support from RMB Namibia.

What makes this initiative especially meaningful is the diversity of participants. The Governor is joined by individuals from sport, education and enterprise, including Salom David from the regional soccer coaching staff, Paulus Haufiku, a Grade 10 learner and soccer player, Golden Kahuikee, captain of the Khomas Regional Netball Team and WHS U19 team, as well as MSME owners Ndaudika Mulundileni of Mindsinaction, Justina Namhadi of Nallo Lashes and Beauty Salon, and Efraim Uuyuni of Kalimbo Jorris Investment CC.

Some of the MSME participants are also connected to the Blue Growth Series, Standard Bank Namibia and NIFA Academy initiative that supports entrepreneurs through mentorship, investment readiness training and market access. This is what capacity building across sectors looks like. Public leadership, sport, youth development and entrepreneurship are brought into the same learning space, showing that financial knowledge is not only for finance professionals. It is a tool for leadership, enterprise growth and inclusive development.

Together, we are strengthening financial literacy and building capacity for Namibia’s future.
