About the Speaker,
Dr Sanet Steenkamp, born 29 October, is a Namibian educator and administrator, currently serving as the Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture.She served as a Senior School Counsellor in the Oshana Region and as a Director of Education in the Ohangwena Region.
In 2025, Dr Steenkamp was appointed as a Member of Parliament. On 22 March 2025, she was appointed as the Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture.
In the same year, she obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education from Rhodes University in South Africa.
Dr Steenkamp's thesis, titled 'Expanding the Leadership of Learning' Support Teachers in Resource Schools: A Formative Intervention Study in Namibia" explored ways to strengthen leadership among teachers supporting learners with special needs.
