Description

The Master of Applied Econometrics is a new two-year course to be offered by the Department of Economics, Accounting, and Finance in the Faculty of Commerce, Human Sciences, and Education (FCHSCE). The programme consists of both the coursework and mini- thesis components. The programme aims to equip participants with relevant analytical skills to develop and analyse quantitative economic models/techniques needed to address the data-driven real-world economic phenomenon. The programme is designed for graduates with a strong interest in quantitative economics and econometric analyses.

Admission Requirements

  1. To be considered for admission to this programme, candidates must have an Honours degree in economics at NQF Level 8 from NUST or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution with specialization in Economics/Econometrics and a research component.
  2. In addition, an overall average of at least 65% in an Honours degree in Economics (4th year) or equivalent qualification
  3. Holders of equivalent qualification should have passed the following courses or equivalent at Honours or postgraduate diploma level (NQF Level 8).
    a. Econometrics
    b. Mathematical/Quantitative Economics
  4. Applicants should note that satisfying the minimum requirements and submitting of application does not necessarily ensure admission.
