DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

HPGSB is pleased to announce its newly accredited PHD in Management Sciences, starting in 2026. This programme is designed for ambitious scholars and professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in Business Management or any other related fields.

This PhD programme will equip candidates with advanced research skills, enabling them to become highly specialised experts who demonstrate authoritative knowledge in Business Management. Participants will develop the ability to design and present comprehensive research proposals, while strengthening their leadership capacity in scientific writing, problem-solving capabilities across both the public and private sectors. The programme will also enhance their ability to communicate research findings effectively to a wide range of audiences, including both specialists and non-specialists.

Graduates from this programme will be able to make meaningful contributions to national and regional development as University Academics, Senior Business Managers, Executive Directors, Consultants, Policy Analysts and Researchers in Government Establishments and Private Organisations.

Admission Requirements

To apply for the PhD in Management Sciences, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Master Degree or equivalent at NQF level 9, with at least 360 credits in a relevant field.
  • Provide evidence of a supervised research project at Masters level.
  • Submit a draft research concept note (download template).
  • Attend a pre-selection interview.
  • Applicants from institutions other than NUST must provide a detailed transcript and three references.
  • Applicants from industry must submit proof of relevant work experience.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with an average score of 70% and above.
