Description
The Bachelor of Data Science Honours aims to provide an educational opportunity for students interested in working in, or conducting applied research within, the field of Data Science. The programme exposes students to advanced concepts, theories, tools, methods, and applications, and equips them with specialised skills and knowledge to analyse and solve analytically complex real-world problems at both national and international levels. The programme is designed to address the challenges of digital transformation and the growing demand for skills and knowledge to apply Data Science and its technologies effectively.
Admission Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or an equivalent qualification in a related field at NQF Level 7, worth at least 360 credits, from a recognised institution.
At the department’s discretion, applicants with deficiencies in mathematics or computing skills may be required to enrol in a relevant course to address the identified gaps.
Applicants are required to submit the following documents with their applications:
- A professional résumé highlighting practical and professional computing, mathematical, and statistical skills, if applicable.
- A written proposal or motivation for undertaking further studies.
