Choir visits South to meet youth

The NUST Choir will undertake a motivational tour to the South of Namibia from 20 to 27 June 2016. The 60-member ensemble will undertake the tour not only to expose their talents to audiences, but also to motivate young people and encourage them to study, and to create a platform for discussions about life. The members will also disseminate information about NUST and establish partnerships with choirs in the regions they will visit.

The NUST Choir, established in 1996, has been the golden voice of the Institution and an effective marketing tool and is counted among the top choirs in Namibia. It has provided its members with a platform to develop their musical talents, and promote team-building, camaraderie and their professionalism.

In 2009, the choir undertook a similar tour to the south-eastern parts of Namibia, in 2011 to the north-western parts and to the Omaheke Region in 2012 where they made an impact on their audiences.

Choirmaster, Michael Kisting, said the students attracted full houses at all concerts and received standing ovations. “Most importantly, lives have been changed completely, as young people were motivated to undertake further studies, while members of the general public felt encouraged to tackle life with renewed vigour after listening to our messages in song. Our institution’s name became very popular and people have been impressed with its dedication towards its social responsibility,” Kisting said.
