Buddy system works well for foreign students

The Poly has welcomed a cohort of 34 exchange students from Finland and Germany this semester.

The Finnish students represent Lahti University of Technology, Metropolia Helsinki University of Technology, Aalto University and Turku University of Applied Sciences.

The German students hail from Rhein Main University, Ernst-Abbe University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt University of Technology, Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Technical University Ingolstadt, Wismar University, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, Brandenburg University of Technology, Kühne Logistics University and Hamburg University.

The students are enrolled in the Schools of Management, Engineering, Computing and Informatics, Natural Resources and Spatial Sciences and Human Sciences.

The International Relations Office welcomed the exchange students at a reception held on campus. For the first time this year, the ‘Buddy System’ was introduced which makes provision for Poly students to take responsibility for the well-being of their foreign counterparts by assisting them with any problems they may encounter during their stay in Namibia. This will help the foreign students to settle quickly in their new environment.
